This Privacy Policy applies to the "How Much Time Did I Waste?" (YouTube Time Tracker) Chrome Extension.

1. Data Collection and Storage

We believe your browsing habits are your personal business. This extension is designed with a strict privacy-first architecture:

• No External Servers: The extension does not send, transmit, or upload any of your data to external servers.
• Local Storage Only: All time tracking metrics (time spent on YouTube and YouTube Shorts) are saved locally on your device using the Chrome storage.local API.
• No Personal Information: We do not collect identifying information, browsing history outside of YouTube domains, IP addresses, or analytics.

2. Data Usage

The locally tracked time data is used exclusively to:

• Display your total time spent on YouTube within the extension's dashboard.
• Calculate the equivalent monetary cost based on the hourly salary you manually input into the dashboard.

3. Permissions Explained

To function correctly, the extension requires the following permissions:

• tabs and activeTab: Used strictly to detect when you are actively watching a video on youtube.com/watch or youtube.com/shorts so the timer can run or pause appropriately.
• storage: Used to save your accumulated time locally on your machine so the data persists between browser sessions.

4. Your Rights

Because no data leaves your browser, you have complete control over it. You can delete all tracked data at any time by uninstalling the extension or clearing your browser's local extension data.

5. Changes to This Policy

If we update this Privacy Policy (for instance, to support new features), we will post the updated version on this page and change the "Last Updated" date.
